Kwame Asante, Esq. is the founder of the New Orleans Black Film Festival. Attorney Asante has more than 15 years’ experience with nonprofit organizations, including serving as the State Director of the Louisiana NAACP from 2005 thru 2007, managing its Disaster Relief activities after Hurricane Katrina, as well as coordinating its statewide activities for its more than 10,000 members and close to 40 branches and college chapters.
Currently Attorney Asante serves as Executive Director of the Achievement Academy, LLC, the state’s largest provider of supplemental educational services to high school and middle school students. Through the program more than 1,000 students from high poverty communities are provided academic assistance year around in Louisiana.
Kwame Asante is a private practice Attorney in Baton Rouge area with the law firm of Asante & Associates, LLC. Since 2003, Attorney Asante’ has been noted as one of the 100 most influential leaders within the Capital City region, by the Baton Rouge Chamber of Commerce, The Baton Rouge Business Report, the League of Women Voters, and the YWCA. In 2005, Kwame Asante was recognized as one of Baton Rouge’s “40 under 40” by the Baton Rouge Business Report Magazine. Attorney Asante currently serves on the Board of the Academic Distinction Fund and the YMCA’s “Community Builders Leadership Institute”.
Kwame Asante is also the host of the “NAACP Speaks” Radio show and “Ask the Attorney” on Citadel broadcasting, the largest radio station in the southeastern region and the Capital City. |
