MISSION STATEMENT
The New Orleans Black Film Festival (NOBFF) serves as a platform for emerging and established Black filmmakers, artists, and industry professionals who are seeking opportunities to excel in their craft. The three day event showcases the breadth of diverse talent and resources designed to discover, inspire, and educate individuals in the entertainment genres. The melding of these artists with Black owned businesses, service providers, educational facilities, and organizations is dedicated to leveraging funding, and stimulating initiatives and programs in preparing diverse professionals while enriching the expanding film industry in Louisiana. Louisiana has grown into a $200 Million per year industry and is now ranked third behind only Los Angeles and New York in film production. The film crew need has tripled since 2002. Currently, there are seven new film studios throughout Louisiana. Louisiana Economic Development has 35 new applications for infrastructure sites.
PROGRAMING INITIATIVES
Integrated in all programming and promotion are interesting facts about Black film history, the spirit of “independence” from the perspective of national and local filmmakers, and other government, education, and corporate-backed initiatives. These offerings are delivered through a series of film screenings, panel discussions, and other networking events. As a result, this event embraces Black filmmakers seeking a venue where they can hone their craft, and people of interest an opportunity to gain a real perspective of the film industry.
FILM SCREENINGS
The creative expressions of films produced by the tenured and new will highlight the hard work and dedication needed to produce a film. The exposure of their projects to an audience of their peers and film enthusiasts will yield tremendous value.
